AUTOR  Gene Luen Yang startete 1996 unter seinem eigenem Label „Humble Comics“ mit „Yamamoto and the King of the Geeks“, wofür er später den Xeric Grant erhielt. Das kollaborative Projekt „The Eternal Smile“ zusammen mit Derek Kirk Kim von 2009 und die 2010 erschienene Graphic Novel „Prime Baby“ wurden ebenfalls mit dem Eisner Award ausgezeichnet.Seit 2012 arbeitet Yang zusammen mit den Avatar-Erfindern Mike DiMartino und Bryan Konietzko und dem weiblichen Künstlerstudio Gurihiru an der Fortsetzungsreihe „Avatar: Der Herr der Elemente – Das Versprechen“.
