Simply beautiful collection of principal ballerina Misty Copeland. Gregg Delman captures her true essence and beauty, showing her raw and natural beauty, grace and talent.
This book contains some wonderful pictures, however I was disappointed to see some slightly blurry pictures where the photographer apparently didn't know how to use a tripod or a faster shutter speed. As other reviewers have pointed out, the random blank pages (blank on both sides) throughout the book serve no purpose and make you really wonder what the publisher was thinking. It seems like there was a printing error and these pages were supposed to have content. The publisher also very poorly planned how to align the pictures. I've never seen a book with any of these issues. This is an art book, and aesthetics matter when you're displaying art. The way the book displays these pictures would be like an art museum moving all of their art to the corners of the room where the walls meet the floor; the art is still good but the presentation leaves something to be desired. If I knew there would be a new edition with a better layout, I would wait for it. If presentation doesn't matter to you at all, you'll love the pictures.
The photos are hit or miss.Some of the photos seem like outtakes to me. Out of focus, poor composition, blown highlights. I know from an artistic standpoint the photos don't need to be technically perfect but some of them don't seem to have any redeeming qualities.Then you turn the page and there is something that is very good. I said "Wow!" a few times out loud as I was going through it. And some of those amazing photos are not technically perfect, but they do work.Also, not impressed with the manufacturer, the cover photo on mine isn't straight there is more purple showing at the top than on the bottom.
Kudos to Mr. Delman for his great portfolio with his muse Misty Copeland as his star subject. Aside from being ridiculously talented, Ms. Copeland is a stunning beauty and is more than worthy of the pictorial presented in this book. I There is no dust cover, which was a little surprising, but that is either a minor annoyance to some or not.This is a great addition to anyone's library, and is a fitting testament to Ms. Copeland. I hope to one day have it autographed by her and the photographer.
Absolutely gorgeous photos in this book - I didn't even want to set it on my coffee table because we tend to start piling remotes and such on it, and this book is too pretty to cover! Again Misty is stunning. A must for any ballet fan, or Misty fan! Gregg Delman did a wonderful job capturing her in intriguing poses that are sexy and empowering at the same time.
What a beautiful book of photographs. For the first time in years, I was inspired to pick up my drawing tablet to draw after viewing the gorgeous lines of Misty Copeland. She is a lovely ballerina and her love for dance is evident in this book.
